Sew Enchanting is a business that has been in the works since 1990.

The owner, Kris McDaniel, has been sewing since 1980, and started a custom sewing business while in college in 1990. Over time, this transformed into Sew Enchanting.

The first idea to make a christening gown out of a wedding dress came from a co-worker, who knew that Kris sewed as a second income. This co-worker suggested the idea, and the interest that came out of that one order blossomed.

The first Memory Doll was made for Mary Leitzke Johnson, Kris' aunt. Kris stood up for Mary's wedding in the 1980's and toted that dress around for years before realizing that this was an opportunity to gift the dress back to the bride that picked it out. Later that same year, the Memory Doll shown on these pages was made for Kris' cousin, Renee Eckert Hisey, for her anniversary.

Over the years, Kris has made career wear and special occasion dresses, including her own wedding dress, and has even run the spectrum of costumes and children's wear. She always returns, though, to her love of special occasion dresses.
