An amazing heirloom that can be made out of your most special, treasured dress!

Instead of packing away your wedding dress, never to be seen again, use it to pass on to future generations - as a christening gown for your children, and theirs.

Sew Enchanting will carefully take apart your wedding dress and use it to design a unique, custom made christening gown. You may choose from dress length, chapel length, or cathedral length, depending on the size of your dress. All available and unique designs from your dress will be used in the baby's gown.

Christening gowns start at $50, depending on handwork involved. If there is material available, we will make a matching bonnet and/or bonnet/handkerchief. All christening gowns include a cotton or nylon slip. Christening gowns also include one embroidered monogram or initial, if desired.

Contract and other information

The process:

First, Kris analyzes the dress to find the most best way to design and sew a christening gown for you.

This dress had beautiful beadwork along the front and cutouts on the skirt.

It also had an interesting pleated trim along the bottom.

Because of all the trim involved in this dress, Kris decided to use the skirt only for the christening gown, with some of the bodice trim used to decorate the bodice of the new gown. (This was not a customer's gown, it was purchased to show the process)

The trim was removed and the lower section checked for stains and problems:

And the leftover trim would be used for a bonnet (there was a large stain).
